Thoughts About Living
By Dudley Kennedy

We are little ships, that sail life’s sea
to unknown destinations
each of us can steer a course
based on our inclinations

While we’re in port, we stow the gear
from school and family
Then, growing up we spread our sails
to travel on life’s sea

There’s many a port to beckon us
some promise worldly gain
a few are in a placid cove,
while some have wind and rain

But how we man the vessel
determines what we’ll be
we have to master, how to handle disaster
on like’s rough and angry sea

The thing that helps navigation
is a compass that’s always true
it’s our faith that the lord will listen
to help in the things we do

So take heart as you voyage onward
and give others help as you roam
then the world will cheer as your ship draws near
and god bring you safely home
